Free People x Cactus x ATGallop Fitness

one of the best restaurants in Miami is a place called Greenstreet Cafe in Coconut Grove.
not only is the food amazing, but the drinks are pretty damn good too.
my boyfriend Arthur sipped on dry gin martinis and I chilled with some champagne.

i'm wearing a jumper from Free People and my necklace is from the Chanel store in New York.

Arthur is a certified personal trainer looking for clients. if anyone is interested in getting into shape or if you're not happy with the results you've been getting, he's the man to get in contact with.
he will gladly customize a training program and help you reach your fitness goals.
if you're in the Miami area and are interested in private training sessions, feel free to contact him

so easy, a caveman could do it

just wanted to share some of my favorite, quick, easy, and healthy meals.
healthy doesn't mean lack of taste. it's all about finding foods you like and putting them together in a way you enjoy.
after that, eating healthy just becomes a habit.

a.b.

breakfast
a. cottage cheese with strawberries, raspberries, blackberries, green grapes, and blueberries (fruit can be substituted depending on what kind you prefer)
b. whole wheat toast, avocado mash sprinkled with black pepper, crushed red pepper flakes, goat cheese, topped with a sunny side up egg and tomato (gotta have that venti iced coffee, of course)

c.d.

lunch
c. protein caprese salad; tomatoes, diced fresh basil & avocado, quinoa (that's where the protein comes from), drizzled with balsamic vinegar
d. fresh spinach, strawberries, crumbled goat cheese, clementines, a lime wedge, black pepper, drizzled with any type of dressing you like (I use ginger or balsamic vinegar)

e.f.

dinner
e. homemade pesto; two cups fresh basil, 1/4 cup grated parmesan cheese, a tablespoon of extra virgin olive oil then mixed together in a food processor (easy to make and can be used on anything from pasta to sandwiches) [most often, pine nuts are added in pesto, but it's about personal preference]
f. protein bowl; quinoa, spinach, lemon-pepper grilled chicken (substitute with fish if you prefer), lemon-garlic sautéed broccoli, diced tomatoes, topped with sliced avocado, drizzled with any dressing you prefer

detox water make ya holla

my grocery list since i've gone to college has changed completely.
living on my own made me want to stop eating processed foods and to eat better, since i've always been conscious of my health due to a history of poor health in my family.
so I started eating clean and, with the help of Pintrest, was able to start making delicious, healthy meals.

cooking healthy meals has become a passion of mine and with a clean diet, (plus Pilates 3-4 times a week) i've been able to feel better on a daily basis.
it's not as hard or expensive as you might think to eat well, and in the end, it's definitely worth it.

top picture is of my grocery bag from Whole Foods. yes, it can be pricey, but some foods should be purchased at places such as Whole Foods or at your local farmers markets to prevent exposure to pestisides and other harmful chemicals used on almost all foods in the U.S.

second picture is of a few detox waters I made.
being a college student, alcohol consumption is at an all-time high. I wanted to give my body a break and clean out my system so I looked up some recipes (thanks Pintrest!) and here are some of my favorites:

1. clementine blueberry: cut up 1 or 2 clementines with the rhine still on (can substitute for oranges), add a handful of blueberries, let chill overnight.
2. lemon-lime: thinly slice 1 lemon and 1 lime, let chill overnight.
everyone should hopefully know the benefits of drinking lemon water (speeds up metabolism and helps burn fat) but if you prefer the flavor of lime like I do, I recommend combining the two.
3. peach blackberry: slice 1 or 2 peaches (personal preference) [I only sliced 1 since this was my first attempt at making it], add a handful of blackberries, let chill overnight.

i'd love to hear some healthy recipes my cacti readers have been cooking up!
feel free to post them in the comments!

fashion findz

my latest fashion find comes from a consignment store by my house called Second Showing; one of three (that I know if) local high-end consignment stores in my area of Miami.

this cute denim Chanel halter top came out in spring 2007. the pearls at the top have the iconic Chanel logo on each one and the braided chain resembles the classic Chanel look so many associate with Chanel accessories. the denim brought me back to my 90's roots (we can't forget justin & britney's matching denim outfits in 2001). at $140, I couldn't resist the bargain in front of my face!

consignment is a cheaper, less stressful way to fill your closet with designers you love. I highly recommend hitting up your local designer consignment store and seeing what you find!

I couldn't decide what shorts to wear with the top, which would you choose; light or dark denim?

The Subject x ZL

over spring break i went to NYC to visit my best friend. the last few times i've been to the city, i've made some awesome friends.

our good friend Zach loves going to all the museums so i asked him to take me; in exchange for taking me, he asked if he could photograph me, so i agreed despite my reservations (he knows i hate my picture being taken).

we started at the Guggenheim, made our way to the Met and ended at the MoMA.

these series of photos are called "The Subject" by Zach Littman
all photos (except the last ones of a few art pieces from the MoMA, which were taken on my iPhone) were taken by Zach.

he is such a talented man and has a great eye for strange beauty. these pictures came out beautiful and i hope to see many more of his photographs floating around on the internet
